James “Duff” McClish, Sr.


James Duff McClish, Sr, went to fish with the Master Fisherman on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009.

Duff worked for over 30 years for Principal Financial Group, and through the years he received numerous awards for sales and service. An avid sportsman and devoted family man, Duff was a man of absolute integrity and grew up in the Church of Christ.

h by his granddaughter, Kelly Werlinger, M.D.; his grandson, James D. McClish, III; and his brother, John McClish.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mildred McClish; his children: Diane McClish Grove and husband, Bill, Peggie Lynn McClish Will and husband, Greg, James D. “Jimmy” McClish, Jr., Lella McClish Werlinger and husband, Joe, and Don Werlinger; grandchildren: Stephanie Girling and husband, Robert, Gregory Will and Emily Grove; great-grandchildren Blake Estrello and Hailey Grove; sister, Ruby McClish Tuttle; and extended family.

A visitation was held at the J.E. Foust Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas, on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, from 6 – 8 p.m. A second visitation was held at the Smithwick Church of Christ from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, and funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Smithwick Church of Christ. Interment followed at the Smithwick Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., 17th Floor, Chicago, Ill., 60601.
