Jesse V. Hernandez
Jesse V. “Chuy” Hernandez, of Lockhart, retired counselor for the Lockhart Pride High School/Lockhart Junior High School, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, at the age of 64, after battling Parkinson”s disease for several years.
A graduate of Lockhart ISD, Jesse was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received his undergraduate degree in psyc
hology from St. Edward”s University in 1977 and his graduate degree in education from Southwest Texas State University in 1991.
A former member of the Lockhart Evening Lions Club, he enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking and fishing.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 33 years, Terry; daughter, Yssa Hernandez; granddaughter, Athena Hernandez; and sister, Rita Moreno, and her husband, Allen. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
The family invites friends to join them at a visitation at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at St. Mary”s Catholic Church, with burial services following at the Lockhart City Cemetery.

Jesse is with God now and very well taken care of. Memories of Jesse will stay forever in our hearts, May God bless Terri, Yssa, Athena and Jesse’s sister Rita and give them strength to go on with their daily lives. God Bless y’all! Love Marjaana and Dave
