John William Robertson
John William Robertson was born in Lockhart, Texas on February 20th, 1956. John was 67 when he passed at his home in Clovis, New Mexico, on December 7, 2023.
John was proceeded in death by his parents WE (Jack) Robertson, and Hazel Robertson. Also, his grandparents Herbert and Stella Ulbricht, and Ruby Nanes. John leaves behind his sisters, Jacqueline Zimmerman, Patricia Kay Braley, and Alison Elizabeth Dollar.
Followed by niece Wendi Stanley, and her husband Bob, David Braley, Jr., and wife Stephanie, Tammy Walker and husband Chris, and Michael Dollar and his wife, Evelyn. And many grand nieces and nephews all loved dearly by John.
John loved school. He made many good friends and loved all his classmates. He enjoyed all sports and helped as a trainer for the football and basketball teams. John graduated from Lockhart High School in May 1974.
He went to College at SWT in San Marcos, Texas for a short while before quickly deciding that wasn’t going to be for him. He went for work for his Dad in the Oil Fields in Pearsall, and Dilley, Texas for a couple of years. Learning all he could about the oil business. He was taken in and made very dear friends living in the area, the Bennetts. The husband worked with John. They loved John and invited him over for meals and weekend visits quite frequently. John was crazy about them and their family.
John then decided to follow in his Dads footsteps and enlisted in the Service, the United States Air Force. He went to basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He then started his Military training as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, and also graduated in an NCO orientation course. He then took and passed a Manager Supervisor’s course. From 1981- through March of 1985 , John’s title was Staff Sergeant Aircraft Maintenance (Journeyman)
In June of 1989, thru March of 1993, John was promoted to Technical Sergeant.
And then last but not least promoted to Master Sergeant in March of 1994.
On April 1st in 1997, John retired from the United State Air Force at his final destination, Cannon AFB in Clovis, New Mexico.
John very much enjoyed his 20 years in the Air Force that took him to Del Rio, Texas, and many places overseas including England, Turkey, Aviano, Italy, and over the North Sea. John made many good friends while in the Service.
Johns many passions after retirement included golfing, computer studies, and he avidly enjoyed watching all sports. But mainly all major league baseball. He absolutely loved watching the Houston Astros play.
John enjoyed times coming to Lockhart after retirement to visit with his sisters and their families at Christmas. He was always thrilled to go to his High School Class reunions, also.
His favorite and most relaxing place to go was to an Air BNB outside of Lockhart. The property had a small lake on it, with all beautiful wildlife that he thoroughly loved watching and taking pictures of.
John’s funeral service (Visitation only)-will be held on January 6th, 2024 from 10AM to 12:00 PM at McCurdy Funeral Home. Immediately following the visitation, there will be a brief service and burial on FM713 at Clarks Chapel Cemetery.
