Marcelino Reyes Castillo, a beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on December 26, 2023, at the age of 78. He entered this world on June 2, 1945, in Villa Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, born to the late Efren Reyes Jaso and Juliana Castillo Cuevas.
Marcelino was preceded in death by his parents, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Rogelia Perez de Reyes, and their children: Roberto Reyes Perez, Veronica Reyes Perez, Daniel Reyes Perez, Olivia Reyes Perez, Teresita de Jesus Reyes Perez, Marcelo Reyes, and Erica Reyes.
He is also survived by his siblings: Adan Reyes Castillo, Maria de Jesus Reyes Castillo, Bernabe Reyes Castillo, Ciro Reyes Castillo, Francisca Reyes Castillo, Alejandra Reyes Castillo, and Juan Reyes Castillo. Marcelino leaves behind a remarkable legacy in the form of 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Marcelino’s zest for life was evident in various aspects of his personality. He was known for being a social butterfly who enjoyed the camaraderie of friends, often gathering over drinks and sharing stories. As the founder of the band “Los Lagartijos,” his passion for music brought joy to many. Marcelino loved the simple pleasures, often taking leisurely rides in his truck and finding humor in everyday life.
A man deeply devoted to family, Marcelino had a special bond with his loved ones. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had a knack for weaving entertaining tales. Known for his endearing habit of taking naps while watching TV, Marcelino cherished moments of relaxation and joy.
His love for his grandchildren was unparalleled, often remarking on their beauty and humorously attributing it to their resemblance to him. Marcelino’s adventurous spirit extended to teaching his daughters, Veronica and Olivia, how to shoot guns, creating lasting memories of shared experiences.
A Recitation of the holy rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2024, at DeLeon Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at St. John’s Catholic Church, followed by burial in Community Cemetery in Luling.
In honoring Marcelino’s memory, let us celebrate the vibrant life he lived, the laughter he shared, and the love he bestowed upon all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
