Junior high Lions sweep Cedar Creek

CEDAR CREEK — Lockhart Junior High swept all 4 games against Cedar Creek last week, winning both 8th grade games on the road and both 7th grade games at Cedar Creek.

The 8th Grade Maroon won 27-16 with Noah Jaimes and Rafael Aviles each scoring for the Lions.

The 8th Grade White Lions won 13-6 with Jacob Octavo the offensive star for LJHS.

The 7th Grade Maroon crushed Cedar Creek, 33-0. Demonte Anthony and Waylon Johnson were the top offensive performers, while Joel Garcia and Carlo Rocha led the way on defense for Coach Willie Boyd’s Lions.

The 7th Grade White Lions won, 31-21, with Jerry Peralez and Carson Lozano having strong games for the Lions.

The 8th Grade Lions hosted Bastrop on Tuesday at Lions Stadium, while the two schools’ 7th grade teams met at Bastrop’s Ethard Stadium.

On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Lockhart Junior High will take its 8th grade teams to Goodnight Middle School in San Marcos while the 7th grade squads will battle at Lions Stadium. Kickoff for the Maroon Lions will be 5:30 p.m., with the White teams starting at 6:30 p.m.
