JV Lady Lions crush Manor Lady Mustangs 19-2

On Thursday, April 9, the Lady Lion JV softball team demolished the Manor Mustangs 19-2.

Lockhart’s offense was unstoppable with a total of 16 hits on the day. The Lady Lions scored an incredible 15 runs on 10 hits in the first inning.

Then in the second inning, Sam Ortega put the “nail in the coffin” with a two-run home run blast over the left field

fence, increasing the Lady Lion lead.

Defensively, Lockhart held steady, committing only two errors which were responsible for the Lady Mustangs’ only two runs.

Battery for the Lady Lions was pitcher Adelina Sandoval and catcher Breanna Delgado. Offensive standouts include Delgado (2 – 3 with a double); Ortega (2 – 3 with a double and home run); Alyssa Segura (2 – 2); Franchezca Gonzales (3 – 3); and Ashley Acosta (2 – 3 with a double). Alyson Baltierra, Julie Tate and Chelsea Butler each contributed a single.

The Lady Lions will close a season of fearsome play this week, as they host the Del Valle Cardinals on Friday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m., and travel to Elgin to face the Lady Wildcats in the last game of the regular season on Tuesday, April 21.
