L.H.S. powerlifters place at Hays Meet

The Lockhart Lion and Lady Lion powerlifting teams competed at the Hays Rebel Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, Jan. 21, bringing home a third place trophy for the Lady Lions and a fourth place trophy for the Lions.
“All of the lifters did a great job in the meet,” Coach Darrell Brock said.
Lion Trey Ware received Top Squater with a 540-pound lift, Top Bencher with

a lift of 285 pounds, and Top Deadlift with a lift of 510 pounds in the 242-pound class. Ware also earned third place in the 242-pound class with a total lift of 1335 pounds.
Lady Lion Anna Beth Gonzales earned Top Squater for the girls with a lift of 230 pounds and brought home a first place trophy in the 198-pound class.
Lady Lion Ashley Castillo received Top Deadlifter for the girls with a lift of 245 pounds and brought home a first place trophy in the 114-pound class.
Lady Lion Laura Villarreal was the Top Bencher at the Hays Meet with a lift of 114 pounds and brought home a third place trophy in the 114-pound class.
Also earning points for the Lions were the following lifters:
•David Pozuc with a first place finish by lifting 965 pounds in the 148-pound class
•Richard Ybarra with a tenth place finish by lifting 690 pounds in the 148-pound class
•Max Lindstrom with a ninth place finish by lifting 775 pounds in the 181-pound class
•Rafael Regalado with a twelfth place finish by lifting 735 pounds in the 181-pound class
•Joe Fuentes with a second place finish by lifting 1015 pounds in the 181-pound class
•JR. Reyes with a seventh place finish by lifting 1090 pounds in the 198-pound class
•Bryan West with a fourteenth place finish by lifting 810 pounds in the 198-pound class
•Nick Villareal with a twelfth place finish by lifting 825 pounds in the 198-pound class
•Jacob Frey with a sixteenth place finish by lifting 720 pounds in the 198-pound class
•Derrick Harris with a third place finish by lifting 1200 pounds in the 275-pound class
Next, the Lockhart Lions” powerlifting team will compete at the Navarro Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, Jan. 28.
