Lions
8th Grade “Maroon” Team
The Lions” 8th grade “maroon” team traveled to San Marcos to meet Goodnight on the court Monday, Nov. 21.
The Lions struggled to match Goodnight”s score as they slowly fell behind in the second half ending the game with a 48-20 defeat.
Scoring for the Lions were Micheal Aldridge with seven points, David Dihn with five poi
nts, Ryan Houston with three points, Cody James with two points, Kendall Till with two points, and Robert Castenada with a free throw.
“We had outstanding rebounding by Ryan Houston and Kendall Till,” Coach Andrew Corpus said. “Micheal Aldridge did an excellent job of handling the ball and running the offense.”
Hustling on defense for the Lions were Dihn and Castenada.
Aldridge, Houston, Till, James, Ryan Hitter, Sammy Yanez, Sergio Juarez, and Dominique Hardaway contributed defensively for Lockhart against Goodnight.
The team”s next game is on Thursday, Dec. 1, against Dahlstrom with a game at 6:30 p.m.
8th Grade “White” Team
The Lions” 8th grade “white” team had costly turnovers that led to a 25-43 defeat against the talented San Marcos Goodnight team on Monday, Nov. 21.
High scorers for the Lions were Dalton Dabbs and John Barron with seven points each.
Other Lions contributing tot he score were Nolan Lockhart with four points, Ryan Gonzales with three point, and Bryan Mendez with three points.
Defensively for Lockhart, Daniel Herrera controlled the boards with rebounds, but the Lions many turnovers aided a good pressing team.
The team”s next game is on Thursday, Dec. 1, against Dahlstrom with a game at 5:30 p.m.
7th Grade Team
The Lions 7th grade team played their second game of the season on Monday, Nov. 21, against San Marcos Goodnight.
“We got off to a better start compare to our first game against Miller, however, we had some ball handling and passing difficulties trying to break their full court press,” Coach Harold Abayan said.
The final score of 31-8 puts the Lions at 0-2 for the season.
“I do see some improvements with our ball movement and passing with our half court offense,” Abayan added. “And our man-to-man defense is coming along. I am positive that when we become confident with our offense and move our feet on defense that we will start winning some ball games.”
The team”s next game is on Thursday, Dec. 1, against Dahlstrom with games at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Lady Lions
8th Grade “A” Team
The Lady Lions” 8th grade “A” basketball team matched up against San Marcos Goodnight on Monday, Nov. 21, resulting in a disappointing loss for Lockhart, 13-36.
Scoring for the Lady Lions were Jesi Greer with five points, Bianca Juarez with four points, Desiree” Roland with two points, Amanda Alvarez with a free throw, and Andrea McKinney with a free throw.
Making rebounds for Lockhart were McKinney with two, Roland with nine, and Alvarez with one.
Good hustle came from Desirea Winn, Jackie White and Audrey Valdez.
Forcing turnovers against Goodnight were Jordyn Platt with one steal, Greer with one steal, Alvarez with one steal, McKinney with one steal, Roland with four steals, and Kariah Selby with one steal.
Next, the Lady Lions will travel to Hays on Thursday, Dec. 1, to play Dahlstrom for a game at 6:30 p.m.
8th Grade “B” Team
The Lady Lions” 8th grade “B” basketball team defeated Goodnight, 16-13, in overtime on Monday, Nov. 21.
High scorer for the Lady Lions was Cortney Ferris with seven points. Also adding points to the scoreboard were Jocelyn Coleman with two points, Kelsey Daily with two points, Sha”Vonda Hill with two points, Alisha Officer with two points, and Bethany Horton with a free throw.
Grabbing boards for Lockhart were Brittney Joseph with four rebounds, Officer with five rebounds, Marissa Lopez with one rebound, Ferris with 10 rebounds, Hill with two rebounds, Coleman with one rebound, Ashley Koehler with two rebounds, and Horton with two rebounds.
Hustling on the floor was Amanda Wright, and making steals were Daily with four, Joseph with one, Officer with one, Ferris with two, and Coleman with two.
Next, the Lady Lions will travel to Hays on Thursday, Dec. 1, to play Dahlstrom for a game at 5:30 p.m.
7th Grade “B” Team
The Lady Lions” 7th grade “B” basketball team took a tough loss to San Marcos Goodnight 11-22 on Monday, Nov. 21.
At the halftime, the Lady Lions had only scored four points, while giving up 15 points to the Rattlers.
In the second half, the Lady Lions fought back adding seven points, but fell short as time ticked down in the fourth quarter.
“We tried to work our way back into the game, but several turnovers and missed shots put us farther behind,” Coach Alisha Homann said.
Scoring for the Lady Lions were Alysia Peralez with four points, Karen West three points, and adding 2 points each were Candice Garza and Danielle Reynolds.
The Lady Lions are now 1-1 in district play with their next opponent being Dahlstrom on Thursday, Dec. 1. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. in Hays.
