The freshman volleyball teams had an even tougher time with their opponents.
The Freshman Maroon lost to the New Braunfels Unicorns with scores of 15-25 and 18-25.
“The team had a tough time on serve receive from the Unicorn’s powerful servers,” said Freshman Volleyball Coach Colleen Johnston.
The Maroon team did deliver eight serving aces that were led by setter and outside hitter Veronica Escobedo.
“The team’s defense has gotten considerably better with the fast reactions of Gabby Galvan and quick hands of Cassie Arredondo,” said Johnston.
The Freshman White also lost to the Lady Unicorns in two. Their score were 19-25 and 11-25.
“The White Team has been improving quickly, but even with ace serving from Ashley Hagan and Gwen Sanders, they couldn’t hold off the well placed serves of the Unicorns,” Johnston said.
Setter Courtney McGehee had an excellent game on both defense and offense. She had several of her sets lead to many of the half dozen kills in the game.
The Freshman teams also lost to Canyon on Tuesday. The Maroon team lost 17-25 and 23-25. The White team lost with scores of 20-25 and 14-25.
