Lady Lions battle to the buzzer against Leander

The Lockhart Lady Lions put together a gritty, hard-fought performance Friday night at home but ultimately fell to the Leander Lions, 52–47, in a tightly contested matchup that featured multiple lead changes and standout individual efforts.
Leander jumped out early, taking a 13–6 lead at the end of the first quarter as Lockhart worked to find its rhythm. The Lady Lions responded in the second quarter with aggressive defense and improved ball movement, outscoring Leander to head into halftime with a narrow 21–20 advantage.
Momentum shifted in the third quarter as Leander regained control, pushing the pace and building a 43–34 lead heading into the final period. Lockhart refused to back down, mounting a strong fourth-quarter push and cutting into the deficit, but Leander was able to hold on down the stretch to secure the five-point win.
Peyton Johnson led all scorers with an outstanding 30-point performance, carrying the Lady Lions offensively throughout the night. Zoe Goerlitz added 6 points, while Beah St. Leger chipped in 5 points. Marissa Sosa finished with 4 points, and Mia Lewis contributed 2 points to round out the scoring.
Despite the loss, the Lady Lions showed resilience, teamwork, and determination, battling until the final buzzer and demonstrating continued growth as the season moves forward.
