Lady Lions continue to rule on any diamond

The Varsity Lady Lions started their second round of district play with a blow out. They traveled to Kyle to face the Lehman Lady Lobos and defeated them 20-1 on drizzly Friday, March 28.
The Lady Lions were determined to win after defeating the Clemens Lady Buffaloes at home by only three runs and a final score of 6-3 on Tues

day, March 25.

vs. Lehman
Despite the wet conditions, the Lady Lions never let the weather dampen their spirits. They roared on through four complete innings, pouncing on the Lobos from the beginning.
Brandy Stacks hit a single in the first inning and was followed by Veronica Escobedo’s triple to left center field to get Stacks in for a run.
Taylor Boedecker drove a ball deep into right field for a triple and an RBI. Krista Law added a single to bring Boedecker in for another run. Chelsy Martinez picked up a single and an RBI as Law crossed home plate.
In the second inning Lockhart continued to hit to the gaps. Stacks led off with a double then Boedecker hit a single for a Stacks score.
Jamie Schulle smacked a triple out to right center while Martinez tallied another double and RBI.
Zaida Hager reached first on a single, while Amanda Capello hit a line drive into left field for a Hager score. Capello reached third on a wild pitch and scored a run on a pass ball.
The Lady Lions were solid on defense with no errors as Boedecker held the Lady Lobos without hits for two complete innings. She gave up only three hits in the whole game.
Offensively, the Lady Lions proved they were a force to be reckoned in any weather, scoring three runs in the third inning and six in the fourth.
Stack was 2-3 with a double, Escobedo was 3-3 with two triples, Boedecker was 4-4 with two triples, Law had a single and two RBIs, Schulle was 2-4 with a triple and an in-the-park homerun, Martinez was 4-4 with two doubles, Hager was 2-3 and Capello was 3-4 with three doubles.

vs. Clemens
The Lady Lions defeated the Clemens Lady Buffaloes 6-3 at Lady Lion Field on Tuesday night, but not without a fight.
Lockhart scored in the first inning when Stacks stole home on a pass ball and then again in the third when Schulle crossed home plate thanks to Hager’s double for a 2-0 score.
Clemens rallied back in the fifth inning taking a 3-2 lead after two Lady Lion errors.
Karoline Pfefferkorn shut down a Clemens run by gunning the ball home from right field, cutting off a potential Lady Buffs scoring frenzy.
Lockhart bats came alive in the fifth with Boedecker getting on base with the help of an error.
Janie Juarez and Schulle each added a single and two base runners, while Martinez hit a grounder to second to score two runs and a 4-3 lead.
The Lady Lions continued to make runs in the sixth inning. Kassie Gaddis made it to first on an error and Stacks hit her home on a line drive to left field.
Juarez picked up an RBI and brought Stacks in on a single for a 6-3 final.
Stacks was 2-4 with an RBI, Juarez had a single and an RBI, Schulle was 2-4, Hager had a double and an RBI, Gaddis added a single.
Offensively, the Lady Lions left 10 people on base, Boedecker struck out nine, walked one and gave up only two hits in the game.
The Lady Lions are now 7-1 in district play and 21-4 overall. They played against the New Braunfels Lady Unicorns at home on Tuesday, April 1 and will travel to Del Valle to take on the Lady Cardinals on Friday, April 4. Check next week’s Post-Register for scores and highlights.
