Lady Lions defeat district’s second place team

The Lady Lion varsity softball team met the Connally Lady Cougars, the district”s current second place team, on Tuesday, April 11, for a competitive district win, 3-1.
Lockhart earned three runs on four hits and committed two errors.
Connally gained their only run from four hits and committed two errors.
At the top of the fourth with a scorele
ss game, Alyssa Gonzales hit a single. Bobbi Schulle advanced her over to second base on a sacrificed bunt. Noelle Marquina hit a triple to score Gonzales. Zaida Hager reached base on an error and Marquina scored. Janie Juarez also hit a single.
Karoline Pfefferkorn scored in the top of the fifth.
Pflugerville Connolly scored its only run in the bottom of the fifth. They tried to get something going in the seventh, but Schulle made a heads up play and tagged out the Lady Cougar runner on second after a pump fake to first base.
The Lady Lions hosted the Taylor Lady Ducks on Thursday, April 13, for a victorious game, 11-6.
Lockhart scored their 11 runs from nine hits and committed one error.
Taylor scored their six runs on 10 hits and committed four errors.
Junior Varsity
On Thursday, April 13, the Lady Lion junior varsity softball team competed against the Taylor Lady Ducks, resulting in a game-ending tie, 7-7.
The Lady Lions took advantage of the Ducks” pitching by scoring five runs in the first inning. Lockhart added two more runs in the fourth. The Lady Ducks were scoreless until the third and fourth innings where they scored seven runs on four errors and four hits.
Big hits for the Lady Lions came from Annette McElroy who went two for three, Shelley Castro with a single, and Amanda Oliva with an in the park homerun.
Pitching for the Lady Lions was Castro.
On Tuesday, April 11, the Lady Lions defeated the Connally Lady Cougars, 11-2, on the road.
The Lady Lions scored first in the second inning, and continued to push runs across the plate.
The Lady Lions held the Lady Cougars scoreless till the fifth inning by giving up two runs.
Big hits for the Lady Lions came from Chelsy Martinez who went two for four and Khristyn Parra who went two for three. Annette McElroy and Brandi Alvarez each had a single, while Amanda Oliva hit a double.
Pitching for the Lady Lions was April Ruiz, who gave up only one hit for the night against the Lady Cougars.
The Lady Lions are 5-5-1 in district play. They will end their season Friday night, April 21, against Pflugerville Hendrickson.
