Lion baseball struggles with district opponent

The Lockhart Lion varsity baseball team traveled to Vista Ridge High School for disappointing district loss, 5-1, against the Rangers on Thursday, April 13.
“Offensively, we had a rough night,” Coach Gifford Whitehead said.
The Lions earned their lone run on two hits completed by Josh Hazelett in the fifth inning and Dennis Ortiz in the sixth inning

Landon Buckner scored Lockhart”s only run in the fifth inning. After reaching first base on an error, Buckner was advanced on base by a line drive hit made by Hazelett. Michael Wright brought Buckner home with a ground ball to the shortstop. Wright”s speed earned him first base as he beat the throw.
Starting pitcher Michael Schulle and catcher Dennis Ortiz led the Lions on defense.
