Lady Lions melt Shertz Steele, 8-2

After a tough 8-2 loss against their district rivals, the New Braunfels Canyon Lady Cougars on March 18, the Lady Lions proved they could bounce back when they came out swinging against the Lady Knights of Steele.
The Varsity Lady Lions hosted the Steele Lady Knights on Thursday, March 20, taking control of the game from the s

econd inning until the end of the sixth for a 7-0 win.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Lions roared out of the dugout one by one during the second, hitting the ball effectively for a total of three runs. They added an extra run in each the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Freshman Amanda Capello was 3-4 with an RBI. Seniors Janie Juarez and Zaida Hager and freshman Kassie Gaddis were all 2-4.
Senior Jamie Schulle, sophomore Brandy Stacks and freshmen Veronica Escobedo and Taylor Boedecker each added a single.
Escobedo and Gaddis picked up an RBI each, while Boedecker added two RBIs to her season count.
Krista Law came in to hit during the sixth inning, earning an RBI on a sacrifice fly to deep-right center field.
Boedecker was one walk away from a perfect game, pitching a no-hitter and striking out 10 Lady Knights.
The Varsity Lady Lions are now 19-4-1 overall and 5-1 in district play. They played at home against Clemens on Tuesday, March 25 and will travel to Kyle to play against the Lehman Lady Lobos. Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
