Lester “Les” Jacobs

Lester Lawrence “Les” Jacobs, of Delhi, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Kyle, Texas, on July 1, 2013 after a short illness, with his wife and daughter at his side. Les was born in Yoakum, Texas, on April 24, 1922, to George B. and Ada Lee (Crawford) Jacobs.

Mr. Jacobs served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Delhi Baptis

t Church. He married Olamae Goodman on Oct. 23, 1945. Les retired from Civil Services in San Antonio on Dec. 31, 1983, after 35 years of service. Then he moved to the farm the following April, where he loved the outdoors by gardening and doing yard work, as well as raising his cattle. Les also enjoyed the company of his family and his two pets, Pepper and Sam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Vollie, Rollie, Donald and infant brother, Georgie Lee; and two sisters, Eunice Long and Bernice Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Olamae Jacobs; two daughters, Glenda Filby, of Houston, and Judy Jacobs, of Pearland; one sister, Dorothy White, of San Antonio; and grandson, Blake Maner, of Houston.

Family will receive friends at McCurdy Funeral Home, from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Delhi Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at Delhi Cemetery.

    Mom, our thoughts and prayers are with yu at this difficult time. Pop will be missed by many, especially us. He is at peace now with the lord and no more pain. RIP Pop, we love you.
