The Lockhart Lions hit the road Tuesday night to take on Cedar Park, but fell short, 65-48. A slow start proved costly, as Cedar Park came out firing, knocking down four three-pointers in the first quarter. Though the Lions settled in and played a competitive final three quarters, the early deficit was too much to overcome.

“We need to believe in ourselves and go out there expecting to be in these games and win,” said Head Coach Collin Hart. “I know how badly our guys want these games. We just need to be more confident in what we’re doing.”

Leading the way for Lockhart was senior Jordan Ortiz with 12 points, alongside junior Jay Villalobos, who recorded 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Senior Dareon Loggins added 11 points, while fellow senior Elijah Santana chipped in five.

With a home game against Leander on Tuesday, Feb. 4, Coach Hart expects the team to respond with energy. “Our program has grown so much this year, and I’m excited to see what the future holds. I expect us to come out with fire on Friday, and play much better then we did on Tuesday.”

LHS’ home-finale is Friday, Feb. 7 vs. Lehman. The season-finale is Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Glenn.
