Lion lifters overpower Canyon

The Lockhart Lion boys and girls teams competed in the New Braunfels Canyon High School Powerlifting Meet on Friday Feb. 18. The girls took first place and the boys took second place in the meet.

For the boys’ team, Travis Grogan lifted 615 pounds in the deadlift. Ryan Lockhart was the Lion lifter to top the 300 mark in the bench. At 305 pounds, Joe Woodworth also went over the 300 mark by lifting 315 pounds.
“Coach Parker and myself are very proud of all the lifters,” said Brock.
The Lion powerlifting teams will be attending the Regional Qualifying Meet in Del Valle on Saturday, Feb. 26. The top 12 qualifying girls and top 10 qualifying boys will travel to Lampasas for the Regional Meet on Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5.
