Lions fall to Liberty Hill

Last week was tough for Lockhart’s Boys Baseball team’s offense. They faced off against the Liberty Hill Panthers on Tuesday and ended up losing 8-0. This defeat marks the fifth consecutive loss for the Lions against the Panthers.
The scoring kicked off in the first inning when Liberty Hill launched a home run to left field, taking an early lead.
Santiago Guerra was on the mound for the Lions, allowing three hits and three runs in just one inning, while managing to strike out one batter and issue one walk.
For the Lions, Ethan Mendez, Noah Sanchez, and Parker Conner each had a hit, and the team pulled off one double play during the game.
When they faced Liberty Hill again on Friday, they struggled to keep pace and lost 10-0.
Gage Deutsch started the game for the Lions, giving up three hits and six runs (four earned) over three and a third innings, while striking out six and walking five. Clayton Ward took the mound for the Liberty Hill Panthers, allowing just one hit and no runs in five innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.
Waylon Phillips led Lockhart at the plate, going 1-for-2. The Lions played solid defense, committing no errors, with Xavier Schuelke having the most fielding opportunities, totaling seven. The Lions are currently 1-5 in District play and 7-9 overall.
