Lions triumphant over Ducks, 65-53

The Lockhart Lions” varsity basketball team traveled to Taylor for a district match up on Friday, Feb. 3, resulting in a victorious game for the Lions, 65-53.
The Taylor Ducks stole the lead in the first quarter, 19-12, and maintained it during the first half. However, the Lions match the Ducks point-for-point in the second
quarter. Lockhart ended the half trailing 33-26.
After the halftime break, the Lions took control of the game by outscoring the Ducks 18-13 in the third quarter. Taylor continued to make fatal errors in the fourth quarter by constantly fouling the Lions” accurate free-throw shooters.
By the end of the night, the Lions had an 85 percent free-throw shooting with 23 points coming from the line.
Lockhart”s precise free-throw shooting gave them the 65-53 win over Taylor.
High scorer for Lockhart was Mark Black with 16 points including 10 out of 12 free throws.
Also adding points to the scoreboard were Thomas Elizondo with 14 points including eight out of eight free throws, Brandon Hodges with 12 points including a 3-pointer and three out of four free throws, Michael Schulle with eight points, Alex Joseph with six points, Chris Hodges with five points including one 3-pointer, Terrance Waldon with two points, and Curtis Clay with two points.
