LHS Powerlifting competes at Dripping Springs

The Lockhart High School boys and girls powerlifting teams competed in the Dripping Springs meet on Saturday, Feb. 4. The girls earned a third place trophy and the boys earned a second place trophy.
The Lady Lion highlights included best squat- Anna Beth Gonzales with a lift of 245 pounds, best bench- Laura Villarreal with a lift of 120 pounds, and best deadlift- Beth

Gonzales with a lift of 260 pounds and Ashley Castillo with a lift of 250 pounds.
The Lion highlights included best squat- Trey Ware with a lift of 560 pounds and Travis Grogan with a lift of 555 pounds, best benches- Joe Woodworth with a lift of 335 pounds and Ryan Lockhart with a lift of 325 pounds, and best deadlift- Travis Grogan with a lift of 625 pounds.
Travis Grogan was named best lifter in heavy weight division.
The Lockhart High School Lion and Lady Lion power lifting teams will compete in the Canyon Meet on Friday, Feb. 17.
Earning points for the Lady Lions were:
• Ashley Castillo with a first place finish by lifting 570 pounds in the 114-pound class
• Laura Villareal with a second place finish by lifting 545 pounds in the 114-pound class
• Louisa Anchondo with a fifth place finish by lifting 425 pounds in the 123-pound class
• Chelsea Branning with a third place finish by lifting 475 pounds in the 148-pound class
• Shayna Tucker with a fourth place finish by lifting 460 pounds in the 148-pound class
•Anna Beth Gonzales with a fifth place finish by lifting 600 pounds in the 198-pound class
Earning points for the Lions were:
•Zach Leija with a third place finish by lifting 670 pounds in the 114-pound class
•Randy McGeehee with a fourth place finish by lifting 620 pounds in the 123-pound class
•David Pozuc with a first place finish by lifting 1015 pounds in the 148-pound class
•Kirk Koehler with a ninth place finish by lifting 875 pounds in the 165-pound class
•John Squires with a tenth place finish by lifting 870 pounds in the 165-pound class
•Travis Grogan with a first place finish by lifting 1485 pounds in the 181-pound class
•JR. Reyes with a fifth place finish by lifting 1085 pounds in the 181-pound class
•Joe Fuentes with a seventh place finish by lifting 1055 pounds in the 181-pound class
•Ryan Lockhart with a second place finish by lifting 1410 pounds in the 220-pound class
•Trey Ware with a second place finish by lifting 1370 pounds in the 242-pound class
•Derrick Harris with a second place finish by lifting 1190 pounds in the 275-pound class
•Joe Woodworth with a third place finish by lifting 1345 pounds in the 275+ pound class
•Nick Villarreal with a fifteenth place finish by lifting 900 pounds in the 181-pound class
