LISD superintendent interviews begin; Brents begins run as district’s interim leader

A field of 60 professionals who applied to be the next Lockhart ISD superintendent has been whittled down to seven, according to LISD officials.
The seven candidates, whose identities haven’t been revealed, began interviewing for the job during executive session at the Monday, June 4 meeting. Special meetings to interview the rest of the applicants who made it past the first cut were scheduled to continue on Tuesday, June 5 and Wednesday, June 6.
Follow up interviews are scheduled to take place the third week of June, and a lone finalist is expected to be named on June 27.
A period of 21 days must pass before the board can vote to hire the new superintendent.
The superintendent position became open in early April when former Superintendent Susan Bohn announced she was a finalist for the same position in Aledo ISD, a community located west of Fort Worth. Bohn accepted the position later that month.
Her last day with Lockhart ISD was Monday, June 4.
Deputy Superintendent Kimberly Brents will lead the district in the interim. She took over superintendent duties on Tuesday, June 5, and will continue to serve in that capacity until a new leader takes the reins.
