Special to the LPR

Hayden Rich of Boy Scouts Troop 109 in Lockhart is working on his merit badge. One of the requirements is to email an editor to express my opinion or share information.
Rich has done just so, talking of his love for the troop in Lockhart, which is more than 100 years old. It has both a boys’ and girls’ troop.

“We go camping every month for a weekend and have a week-long Summer and Winter camp,” Rich said, noting his troop will have a “Camporee” in April. “I am the Patrol leader of my group We meet on Tuesday nights at the First United Methodist Church at 313 W, San Antonio at 6:30 p.m.

”I have been in Scouting for about 4 years,” Rich said.

Rich hopes to one day become an Eagle Scout. My Grandmother who also is the Assistant Scoutmaster. My Scoutmaster is Abel De La Cruz.”

Rich spent a recent Saturday at the University of Texas earning new merit badges.

“I have learned so many things in Scouting and I think it makes me a better person,” Rich said.
