The Lockhart High School Fishing Team launched its tournament season in impressive fashion this weekend, turning heads with a standout performance at Lake Buchanan.

Competing against a large and highly competitive field, the Lockhart Lions finished 12th out of 101 teams, hauling in an impressive 13.30-pound bag at their first tournament of the season. The result marks a major achievement for the growing student program and signals a promising year ahead.

Facing teams from across the region, the Lions demonstrated skill, patience, and teamwork on the water. Their strong finish not only placed them among the top contenders in the tournament but also highlighted the steady development of Lockhart’s young anglers.

Coaches and supporters say the performance reflects the dedication these students have shown in preparing for the season. Hours of practice, learning techniques, and understanding local waters paid off as the team delivered one of the top catches of the day.

The showing at Lake Buchanan has generated excitement around the program, which continues to attract more students interested in competitive fishing and outdoor sports.

With the season now underway, the Lions are eager to build on their early success. If their first outing is any indication, Lockhart’s anglers could be making plenty of waves on the tournament trail in the months ahead.
