The Lockhart Lions wasted no time setting the tone for their season, delivering a dominant 3–0 shutout of the Bastrop Bears on Friday night in front of a packed home crowd.
From the opening whistle, Lockhart’s defense controlled the pace of play, smothering Bastrop’s attack and never allowing the Bears to generate a serious scoring threat. The back line stayed organized and disciplined throughout the match, while the midfield applied constant pressure to keep Bastrop on its heels.
Offensively, Evan Estrada emerged as the difference-maker in the season opener. Estrada accounted for all three goals, showcasing both skill and composure to break through the Bastrop defense and put the match out of reach. His performance energized the crowd and provided Lockhart with the spark it needed to seize momentum early.
The Lions struck first to establish control and never looked back, adding two more goals as the match progressed to secure the decisive victory. With the defense firmly in command, Lockhart protected the lead and closed out the shutout with confidence.
The win not only marked a successful start to the season but also gave home fans exactly what they came to see, a complete team performance on both sides of the ball. Lockhart will look to build on the momentum as the Lions continue their early-season schedule.
