Lois Velma (Ruffcorn) Groce, of Lockhart and formerly of Canyon Lake, returned home to live with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the age of 82.
Lois was born on March 3, 1926 in Topeka, Kan. On Feb. 10, 1949, she married her life mate, Thomas Jackson “Jack” Groce, with whom she lived in happiness and love until his death on July 21, 1984.

A survivor of adulthood polio, Lois never allowed her physical inabilities to overshadow her mental capabilities, and lived her life full of pride, promise and hope. She studied English Literature at the University of Houston, and instilled her love of books and language in everyone she met. Second only to her passion for education was her love, both for her family and for the Lord. All were lessons she embraced and passed along to those who loved her.
Lois leaves behind to cherish her memory her three daughters: Diane Culp and husband, Frank, of Buda; Janet Tiemann and husband, Eric, of Lockhart; Mary Serold and husband, Dennis, of New Braunfels; sister, Delma Duncan, of San Antonio; grandchildren, Shannon Montgomery Tiemann, Thomas Serold and Samantha Imm and husband, Andrew; and a host of cousins, friends, and brothers and sisters in Faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Thomas Patterson; husband, Jack Groce; grandson, Erik Wall; and one sister, Betty Quinn.
A graveside service for Lois was held at Cranes Mill Cemetery in Canyon Lake, Saturday, June 28 at 10 a.m.
Arrangements under the care and direction of Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa, New Braunfels, Texas, 78130 (830) 625-2349.
