Mark Stefan Wright
Mark Stefan Wright, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 after a heart attack at home. Mark was born on March 14, 1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas to H.T. Wright and Betty Joyce Wright. He is preceded in death by his father. Mark was the youngest of three children and grew up in Houston, Texas. When he was younger, he was a cheerleader and mascot at Spring Woods High School, sang with the Vienna Boys’ Choir, and swam through Aquarena Springs while attending Southwest Texas State University.
After getting married, he raised his children with his wife in Round Rock, Texas. Mark was a project manager and he traveled the state building waste water treatment plants for over twenty years. He retired in 2022 so he could spend more time with his family and be closer to home.
Mark enjoyed spending time outdoors. He would team pen at small town rodeos, taught scuba diving across the state, but his favorite thing was to take all of his children out on the lake on sunny summer afternoons. He had a soft spot for stray dogs and eventually took in six dogs that loved sitting at his feet and going for car rides. Later in life, Mark developed a passion for sailing and relocated back to Corpus Christi to be close to the water.
Mark is survived by his wife, Deborah Kay Wright; their five children, Randy (Aris), Terry (Victoria), Jessica (Jared), Christoper, and McKenna (Michael); their nine grandchildren; his mother, Betty Joyce Wright, and his brothers Terry (Peggy) and Kerry (Cyndy).
Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 13th at 10:00 am at McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E Pecan St. in Lockhart, Texas 77064. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Austin Pets Alive.
