Martindale city elections to decide council members, propositions on Saturday

The election to choose three Martindale City Councilmembers and decide on two propositions will be held Saturday, May 5.
Election day voting will be held at the City of Martindale Hall at 409 Main St.
Place 1 City Councilmember Sonia Gonzales Villalobos is up against challenger Sam Houston Clinton III.
Place 4 Councilmember Robert Diviney is up against Mike McClabb.
The Place 2 Councilmember election is to decide an expiring appointed term. Latreese Cooke currently occupies the seat is running against Jan Bunker.
Place 3 Councilmember Lisa Shell Allan is unopposed.
Voters will also decide the fate of two propositions.
Proposition No. 1 would reauthorize a local sales and use tax in the city. The rate would be .25 percent with the purpose of providing revenue for the maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
Proposition No. 2 would greenlight a senior citizen tax freeze for residents 65 and older in the city limits.
