Mary Patricia Hess
Mary Patricia Hess passed away in Houston on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010. She was born on Feb. 14, 1928, to Beatrice Olivia Nonez Roemer and Paul Christopher Roemer.
Mary (or Patsy) completed her RN nursing degree after high school graduation, and eventually rose to the position of Head Floor Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston. She married Albert L. Hess on April 24,
1954 and raised five children. Mary was a devout Catholic and was a strong person of principles. She taught her children the love of adventure and all things outdoors. She enjoyed camping, especially in the mountains. Mary and Albert fell in love with Ruidoso and moved there in 1985. Mary always appreciated the mountain views, cool, dry climate and deer passing through her yard on a daily basis. She particularly enjoyed sharing her favorite places with people who had never had the privilege to see such wonders. Even after Albert passed away, Mary remained in Ruidoso where she continued to support her church and played bridge with her group weekly. She cared deeply for her family and friends. Mary retained a keen mind, quick wit and generous sense of humor all her life.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and son, Stephen.
