Mary Sophie Masur

Mary Sophie Masur of Lockhart, Texas, passed away on Jan. 23, 2013, at the age of 91. She was born on Dec. 24, 1921 in String Prairie, Texas, to Rudolph and Mary (Grohman) Till.

Mary was a caring mother and grandmother. She retired from Lockhart ISD, food services after 26 years. She devoted her time to her family; her hobbies of tending to her flower gardens, sewing and coo

king.  She was long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Masur; her parents; and three brothers, Leo Till, Sylvester Till, and Rudy Till.

She is survived by one son, Danny Masur and wife, Linda, of Rockdale, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Davis and husband, Jack, of Selma, Texas and Alice Hamblin and husband, Keith, of Lockhart, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home, from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary being held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial  was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lockhart, with the Rev. John Kim, Celebrant. Interment followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605.
