Millie Lou Ross Terrell, age 62, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Dell Seton Austin in, the presence of her two children.
Millie was born in Falfurrias, Texas to Bennie Louise Whitten Ross and Charlie Price Ross, Jr. She was raised in the Seeligson Sun Oil Camp and the small South Texas town of Premont. After graduating from Premont High School in 1977, she married and lived in Alice, San Benito and then Weslaco. She worked in several adult care capacities and at John Knox Village for many years as activity director, where the residents called her “the Whistler”, due to her cheerfulness in the halls. Millie has recently reached a lifetime goal of living in Lockhart, Texas, where her ancestor was part of the DeWitt Colony. She loved working in the community at Golden Age Home and with home health.
Because of her petite size, she was the Premont Cowboy Cheerleader Mascot for several years. Being raised hunting and fishing, she was a crack shot and somewhat fearless. Her artistic and creative talents were evident from a young age, bluebonnets, sunsets and windmills being her specialties. Her nieces and nephews grew up adoring their Aunt Millie and passed that love to their own children.
Mille was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents: Charlie Price, Sr. and Millie Butler Ross of Lockhart and Benjamin Claybourn and Ozella Pierson Whitten of Bishop and sister-in-law Coni Crawford Ross of Blanco.
Her loving children and grandchildren, Don Ross Terrell (Jennifer Roman), Tinsely and Ashlyn of Kingsville; Christie Lynn Terrell Duke (Matt), Owen and Presley, of San Antonio; brothers, Charlie Price Ross, III of Blanco and Claybourne Whitten Ross (Lynnette Ridge) of Lockhart survive her, along with her many nieces, nephews and their children.
Burial was directed by McCurdy Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25th, where she was laid to rest at the feet of her parents in the Lockhart City Cemetery. A celebration of her life will take place post-Coronavirus with Bar-B-Q at the Barn. You may visit www.mccurdyfuneralhome.com to sign the guestbook.
