Rubie Foreman, 98, of Lockhart, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at North Austin Hospital. She was born on Dec. 4, 1908, in Weatherford, Texas, to Joseph and Ada (Martin) Potts.
Rubie was loved by all those who knew her and was a cherished member of the community. She was affectionately known to many as “Granny” or “Shortie,” and even “Boss Lady” to some. Prof

essionally, Rubie spent many years caring for others as a nurse at Lockhart Hospital and had also worked as a receptionist at McCurdy Funeral Home. She was an involved member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church and had been a member of the Business and Professional Women”s Club.
Rubie was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, J. Gilbert Foreman; by one son, John Jr. “Tooter” Foreman; by one daughter, Ada Jo Brashears; by three brothers, John, Jack and J.P. Potts, and by her sister, Roxie Hughey.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmie G. Foreman and his wife Sallie of Schertz, and Jack Foreman and his wife Jill of Pflugerville; her daughter, Nita Monroe of Lockhart; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, in the McCurdy Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Interment followed in the Lockhart City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Foreman, Vincent Foreman, Kyle Foreman, Kale Foreman, John Wainwright, William or Michael Martin, John Foreman and Cash Monroe. Honorary Pallbearers were Janice Chappel, Joyce Vann, Linda Monroe, Mona Monroe, Pamela Martin, Decca Foreman, Steven Foreman, Jeffrey Foreman, Scott Todd, Brandon Todd and Greg Martin.
Memorials in Rubie”s honor may be made to the Caldwell County Food Ministry, or to the American Cancer Society.
