A record-setting morning unfolded last Saturday at the Caldwell County Precinct 2 Scrap Tire Collection, where residents turned out in force to dispose of nearly 800 scrap tires in less than two hours.
The event reached full capacity in just one hour and 45 minutes, the fastest turnout ever recorded for a county clean-up initiative.
According to county officials, no other precinct in Caldwell County has seen such high participation, volume, or enthusiasm at a similar event.
“This was more than just a clean-up,” organizers said. “It was a strong stand against illegal dumping, and a powerful example of what we can do when we work together.”
The collection, held at 2510 E. Pierce Street in Luling, was made possible through a partnership with the City of Luling, which provided both the site and funding support. County leaders credited the city’s collaboration as a key factor in the event’s success.
City crews, county staff, and volunteers worked efficiently throughout the morning, keeping traffic flowing and unloading tires with what officials called “efficiency and a great attitude.”
Residents also played a major role, many arrived early, helped spread the word on social media, and brought in tires from their homes and neighborhoods.
Because of the overwhelming turnout, plans are already in motion for another collection event soon.
