Ronald B. Andre, of Lockhart, Texas, died on Jan. 10, 2013, having just turned 81 on Christmas Day. Ron was born in Vista City, Calif., on Dec. 25, 1931.

Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Jane, whom he loved tremendously for many years.

Ron is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Katy and grandsons, Jack and Luke, of Austin; brother and sister-in-law, Ra

lph and Christine Bienert of Anaheim, Calf.; Donna Beth Davis, of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandi Taylor, of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cherished grand-dog, Roscoe.

Ron was a man of many talents – serving as a linguist in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, an agent in Texas for the U.S. Border Patrol, and retired as a computer programmer for Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Ron was known for telling stories about all of his many other adventures, including those as a baker, union ice plant worker, go-cart racer, commissioned California police officer, Western Union employee, and pest control business owner.

What Ron liked best was being outside, playing and watching golf (he instilled his love for the sport in his son), teasing and loving on his grandsons, and sitting and telling tall tales with his buddies at Kreuz Market.

Ron was always handy with a good joke or a winning hand at poker. Ron’s smile, sweetness and generosity will be missed by all that knew him.

A graveside service was held at the Lockhart Municipal Burial Park, Lockhart, Texas at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, with Rev. Laura Merrill officiating. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. Arrangements were with Eeds Funeral Home, 408 S. Main St., Lockhart, Texas 78644, (512) 398-2343.
