Roy Gene Richardson
Roy Gene Richardson, of Lockhart, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 60 years of age. He was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Beeville, Texas to Charles Mangrum and Katherine Pearl Richardson.
Gene was a hardworking, dedicated Christian man who loved spending time with family. He served in the Army from 1973 – 76 ending his tour in West Germany. He and Donna began their family,
having two sons, Justin Lee and Patrick Allen. Gene became a deacon while a member of Mineral Baptist Church at Mineral, Texas.
An avid outdoorsman, Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and cruising the beach in his Jeep. Adventurous by nature with an inventive mind, he excelled at welding, water well repair and as an elevator/escalator mechanic. He fulfilled his dream to live on a ranch where he produced his own hay, raised cattle and managed wildlife.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and his grandson, Karek.
Gene is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna; eldest son, Justin, and wife, Tayler, of Aurora, Colo.; son, Patrick, and wife, Tara, of Red Rock, Texas; brothers, Elvie, and wife, Paula, of Austin, and David and wife, Kelly, of Mineral; mother, Pearl, of Pawnee, Texas; and five grandchildren: Braden, Kaden, Emily, Lora and Charlie.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 17, from 4 – 6 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas, followed by funeral services on Monday, May 18, at 10 a.m.
