Smith, Bonn, Tunningley advance to state

The 2008 Region IV AAAA Track and Field meet at the Alamo Stadium in San Antonio was held on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26.
Of those participating in the regional meet, three Lockhart athletes will be moving on to the state meet in May. Ceci Smith, James Bonn and Rory Tunningley each finished first or second in their

event securing a spot at the state meet.
In the team results, the Lady Lions finished in sixth place with 30 points while the Lions finished in eighth place also with 30 points.
Lockhart athletes participating in the regional meet included six Lady Lions and 12 Lions.
Lady Lions Smith,Teie Harris, Gabby Galvan, Jaimee Bennett, Aly Daily, and Desiree Roland and Lions Bonn, Tunningley Stacey Bell, Xavier Moore, TJ Terrazas, Kenny Brite, Dominique Hardaway, Jason Sanders, Dae Tron Head, David Dinh,and Demitrious Joseph represented Lockhart.
Smith finished first in both the Varsity Girls’ 100-meter run and the 200-meter run. In the 100-meter she finished with a time of 12.30 in the preliminary run and 12.41 in the finals. In the 200-meter she finished with a time of 25.78 in prelims and 25.16 in the finals.
Bonn finished second in the Varsity Boys’ 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.5 in prelims and 1:56.8 in the finals.
Tunningley finished first in the Varsity Boys’ 3200-meter run with a time of 9:12.37 and finished second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:20.85.
The 2008 University Interscholastic League Texas High School Track and Field State Championships will be held at the University of Texas Mike Meyers Stadium in Austin on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.
