Tesla visits Gary Job Corps

The visit from Tesla representatives was to view the possibilities of partnering with the Gary Job Corps Center in training students today for the tomorrow jobs at Tesla. Also attending the meeting were representatives from Texas Workforce Commission, MP&F, U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration. Rachel Torres, National Director of Job Corps, and Thony Martino, Regional Director of Job Corps, sharing with the Tesla Representatives the great opportunities for all parties involved. Edward Serna, Texas Workforce Executive Director also said about the great opportunities were a possibility. Visitors toured the CNC/Machine Shop and Material Handling Trades, spoke to students and instructors concerning their training and what their future ambitions upon graduation from the Job Corps program. Tesla Inc. is an American multinational automotive and clean energy company headquartered in Austin. Tesla designs and manufactures electric vehicles (cars and trucks) stationary battery energy storage devices from home to grid-scale, solar panels and solar roof tiles, and related products and services. Tesla is one of the world’s most valuable companies and as of 2023, was the world’s most valuable automaker. In 2022, the company led the battery electric vehicle market with 18 percent share.
