Name and grade you teach and at which school: Lucero Jove-Newman, third grade bilingual teacher at Bluebonnet Elementary School.

Subjects: Reading, Science, Math, Social Studies. “This is my third year in education and I’m loving it.”

Hometown: Born in Houston, grew up in Sugar Land. “Go Astros!”

Where did you graduate? “I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education (Bilingual/Biliteracy Education).

Favorite thing(s) about teaching at Lockhart ISD: “The amazing support I have received while working here. I’ve always felt very welcomed.”

How would your friends describe you? “According to my friends (I just asked them), I am dedicated, energetic, loving, fun, tech savvy, a good dancer, knowledgeable, kind, caring and approachable.”

What values are important to you? Openness, loyalty, and family.

Talents: “I am a good dancer and will dance to anything with a beat! I also give the best gifts… it’s a talent!”

Favorite Books: The story of Ferdinand.

Favorite Music: “I listen to anything. I love dancing so you’ll always catch me playing some music. I am a big Bad Bunny fan.”

Hobbies: “Creating Tik Toks, estate sale shopping, amateur crocheter, watching movies, spending time with family and friends.”

What inspires you? “Seeing my student’s growth inspires me to keep teaching! It is such a joy seeing where students start and how far they go.”

Family: Husband, Beau; English Bulldog, Sophie; Calico cat, Lopez.
