Thelma Pearson
On Friday, Nov. 8, Thelma Nora Pearson peacefully passed to eternal rest and into the waiting arms of her Savior, loving husband, and two of her children. Thelma was 97.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents R.B. (Bert) and Artie Barron Vickery; her husband, Robert Lee Pearson; two of her children, Bobbie Lorraine and Michael Eugene Pearson; her brother, Delmer Vicker
y; and sisters, Dorothy Morel and Myrtle Lois Schaefer.
She is survived by her brothers, Willis and Royce Bennett Vickery; sister, Lora Hartz; daughter, Artie Lee Miller; grandchildren Wade Miller, Janina Johannes, Ty Pearson and Tracy Pearson; great-grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Holly, Gavin and Frederik Johannes and Ace Pearson; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was born Jan. 11, 1916, in the family home in Caldwell County, Texas. She was the oldest of seven children. She graduated from Lockhart High School in 1933. She married the love of her life, Robert Lee Pearson in June of 1934. They moved around central Texas and eventually settled in Lockhart. They had three children, Bobbie Lorraine, Artie Lee and Michael Eugene.
In addition to being a devoted mother and housewife, Thelma was a dedicated employee at Rosenwasser”s on the town square in Lockhart for over 25 years. She held many positions there, including the front window dresser. Thelma was also a pillar in the local community. She was an active member in the First Baptist Church of Lockhart. For decades she enjoyed hand crafting both holiday stockings and Christmas tree skirts for the sick youth at Shriners Children Hospital. She was also an active member in Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile for over 50 years and held virtually every office in the local chapter. Thelma was also instrumental in establishing the Senior Center in Lockhart. Once opened, she was a tireless volunteer in the gift shop, working into her early 90″s.
Thelma lived a full, loving life. She was a breast cancer survivor after a brave and quiet battle several years ago. She was an inspiration to many with her fearless determination in the face of the illness. Thelma was a joyous and caring soul and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
Visitation was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, funeral service followed at 4 p.m. at Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart. Burial was at McMahan Cemetery.
