Walter Floyd “Doc” Gardner, 89, of Luling, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007. He was born in Vinson, Okla., on Sept. 7, 1918, to William Richard and Mary Dola (Cunnis) Gardner.
Walter served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member and Deacon of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church. He was a rancher and for a number of years he did conservatio

n work.
His parents, three brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
Walter is survived by is devoted wife of 61 years, Betty; son, Richard Edward Gardner and wife, Kay of El Paso, Texas; daughters, Shirley Ann Gardner of Luling, Laura Ford and husband, Bill of Duncan, Okla., and Kathy Goerdel and husband, Kent of Luling; two sisters, Irene Greico of Hesperia, Calif., and Lee Word of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church, with the Reverend Kyle Bishop officiating. Interment followed at Mineral Springs Cemetery in Joliet.
Serving as pallbearers were Tommy Spillar, Tommy Kirkpatrick, Sandy Dozier, Mark West, Mel Rogas, Gerald Newsom, Klinton Goerdel and Kody Goerdel.
