Luis T. “PoPo” Gomez, Sr. was called home on Oct. 25, 2014, at the age of 73. He was born in Martindale to Donicio and Primativa Gomez.

“PoPo” was one of the original Truck drivers for Lauren Concrete and worked for 20 years at Centex Ready Mix. PoPo always loved talking about how much concrete he poured in Austin. He enjoyed watching football and baseball and was a

dedicated Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. PoPo enjoyed his family, friends, has also experienced life to the fullest and enjoyed dancing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Donald and Jerry; two brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, who is his childhood sweetheart, Mary Garza Gomez; his three sons, Luis Jr. (Letty), Henry (Diana), and Jimmy; four brothers, and two sisters; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Family planned to receive friends at McCurdy Funeral Home, at 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, and also from 9 a.m. 9 p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at

7 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014. Mass of a Catholic Burial will be celebrated at

10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lockhart.
