Jim went to meet our Heavenly Father on Feb. 26, 2016, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was born on April 14, 1941, in Lockhart, Texas and graduated from Lockhart High School in 1959. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1963 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and earned his Masters of Business in 1984.

dent and branch manager of American National Bank, now Sage Capital Bank. Prior to ANB, Jim owned Assurance Mortgage Company and at varying times during his life, Jim also owned insurance and real estate agencies. He began his career at Lockhart Savings and Loan and especially enjoyed the mortgage side of banking. He liked helping his friends and customers into their dream homes.

Jim was active in the Lockhart community as a past president of the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce; past president and treasurer of the Lockhart Kiwanis Club; a deacon, elder and board chairman of the First Christian Church; and former president of the Chisholm Trail Texas Exes Association. Jim also served as an assistant Scout Master, Little League coach, Babe Ruth coach, girls’ softball coach and chairman of the United Fund Drive. He received Lockhart’s Most Worthy Citizen award for the year 2000.

Jim was a loving and supportive husband, dad, and grandpa. Jim and his late wife, Terry, were avid Texas Longhorn and Boston Red Sox fans often times watching every Red Sox game on the MLB Network. They enjoyed many hobbies together including gardening, cooking, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble. Jim was a long-time golfer and enjoyed playing every Wednesday with his friends and, when “the wind wasn’t blowing too strong and the temperature was 60 degrees or above,” he did his best to be on the course.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Patti Philippone and son-in-law, David, Jennifer Meiners and son-in-law, John Paul, and Cassie Mitchell and son-in-law, Greg; two grandsons, Matthew and Kyle Mitchell; and one brother, William C. Fielder. He is preceded in death by his wife, Terry Fielder; one brother, Henry W. Fielder; and parents, Grace and Weldon Fielder.

Funeral services were scheduled at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas, with visitation on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 4 – 6 p.m. and the funeral service on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. A private burial will follow.
