Carolyn Gayle Cappleman
Carolyn Gayle Cappleman, of Luling, Texas, went to her Lord and Savior on Friday June 26, 2009, at the age of 63. Carolyn was born June 30, 1945, in Texarkana to Elton and Virgie Mae Pipkins Ross.
Carolyn went to Hooks High School in Hooks, Texas and was voted “Most Beautiful” her freshman year, “Most Popular” her sophomore year, and named “Miss Hooks High School” h
er senior year, where she was also a majorette.
After high school, Carolyn attended college and on Aug. 7, 1965, she married Eddie Joe Cappleman at the Methodist church in Hooks.
Carolyn was active in helping with the family business at Apple Lumber; she enjoyed working in her gift shop “Green Apple Gardens” located within the store.
She was a volunteer; she had served as president of PTA and secretary of Little League to name a few. She was a loving mother and proud doting grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Eddie Joe Cappleman, of Luling; mother, Virgie Mae Ross, of Hooks; daughter and son-in-law, Tara Jo and Kyle McAllister, of Kingsland; son and daughter-in-law, Bret Van and Kristen Cappleman, of Luling; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Donnie Mac Tidwell, of Hooks; brother, Ronald Ross, of College Station; brother-in-law, Orville Cappleman of Oxford, Miss; sister-in-law, Peggy Graham, of New Boston; and her loving grandchildren: Taylor Smith, Hunter Smith, Chase Cappleman, Kaitlin Cappleman and Alexis Cappleman.
Her father, Elton Ross, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday June 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Luling with Fr. Russ Matthews and Rev. Allen Davis officiating and Kyle McAllister delivering the eulogy. Interment was held in the Luling City Cemetery.
The family received friends at O”Bannon Funeral Home Sunday evening. Pallbearers were Jerry Lynn Garrett, John Ross, Jess Edwards, Mike Hendricks, Joe Alexander and Neal Bavosett. Honorary pallbearers were her Friday Morning Breakfast Group.
