Elmira Rangel, 86, of Lockhart, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Elmira was born on April 25, 1939, to Enrique and Olivia Garza in Cadereyta Jimenez, Estado de Nuevo Leon. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Erasmo (Eddie) Rangel, her parents, Enrique and Olivia Garza and sons Jaime and Rene Rangel.
She is survived by three children Hector Rangel (Maria), Eddie Rangel (Celinda) and Esther Montana (Rockey). Ten Grandchildren Michelle, Hector Jr., Ryan, Nina, Megan, Rockey Jr., Clarissa, Jessica, James Matthew, and Jennifer. Fifteen Great Grandchildren.
Elmira was a local Hispanic businesswoman and for 50 years, owner of Eddie’s Groceries, located on East Market Street in Lockhart. She was also known by many from the neighborhood as Mamma Eddie. She and her husband, Eddie, watch many children grow up in the East side neighborhood. Eddie’s Groceries was known for their Snow Cones.
Family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, November 7 at Thomason Funeral Home in Lockhart from 4 to 8 p.m., with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held to honor Elmira’s life on Wednesday, November 8 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lockhart. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hector Rangel Jr., James Matthew Rangel, Rockey Montana Jr, Hector Rangel, Zeb Ramirez, and Jose Lopez.
