Joe M. Gutierrez

Mr. Joe M. Gutierrez, 71, of Lockhart, Texas, entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2024. Born on May 24, 1952, in Fentress, Texas, to his loving parents Gregorio and Anita Gutierrez, Joe was a cherished Son, Uncle, and Brother.
Joe’s journey on this earth came to a close on January 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Anita Gutierrez, as well as his brothers, Santos Gutierrez and Juan P. Gutierrez.
He is survived by his niece, Gloria Villalpando; brother, Gregorio Gutierrez, Jr.; sister, Dominga Patlan; brother, Daniel Gutierrez; and sisters, Timotea Hernandez, and Lupe Espinoza. 
Joe’s life was a tapestry woven with the threads of simple joys. His love for the Longhorns was as enduring as his passion for plants and gardening, where he exhibited a green thumb that seemed to bring life to everything it touched. A loving and caring individual, Joe’s great sense of humor illuminated the lives of those fortunate enough to share in his company.
What set Joe apart was his genuine affection for his family. Every morning, like clockwork, he would reach out to his loved ones, offering a daily dose of warmth and connection. Joe found joy in the little things, savoring the simple pleasures of life, such as enjoying a meal at Whataburger, sweet bread, empanadas, or sending postcards to family and friends to share his experiences.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at DeLeon Funeral Home, with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. His final resting place will be at Santa Maria Aida Cemetery in Maxwell, Texas.
