Lockhart suffered a disappointing 12-2 loss last week against Lehman as the Lions struggled to get on the bases.

To start the game, Gage Deutsch stepped onto the pitcher’s mound to kick things off for the Lions. However, it was Lehman who made the first move by scoring five runs on four hits in the second inning. This early lead gave Lehman a significant advantage and put pressure on the Lions to catch up and turn the game around.

Weston Phillips came in as a relief pitcher for the Lions and pitched four and one-third innings. The Junior right-hander allowed four hits and five unearned runs, in addition to walking one batter during his time on the mound. Overall, Phillips faced a tough outing on the mound.

Ethan Mendez stood out for the Lions with a solid performance, 2-for-3. Santiago Guerra and Jacob Whisenant also contributed to the team’s success by each driving in a run. The Lions displayed great discipline at the plate, collectively taking six walks throughout the game.

Whisenant displayed his speed and agility by stealing two bases, bringing his total stolen bases for the season to a team-high 14.

The Lions will play their last home game of the season on Friday, April 26, starting at 7 p.m. as they face off against Leander.
