Lady Lions sweep Navarro Early College

   Last Friday,  the ladies  basketball program earned an impressive sweep against Navarro Early College High School, with the Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams each securing wins in their respective matchups. All three teams demonstrated notable growth, improved communication, and resilient play.

    The Freshman team opened the evening with a commanding performance, resulting in a decisive victory. Heidy Salcedo commanded the floor by, establishing herself as a consistent offensive presence and a key contributor to the team’s success. Along with the rest of her team, they are showing that they are learning and understanding the game as they continue to grow. 

     The Junior Varsity team followed with a strong showing of their own. TJ Horn delivered an impactful all-around performance, contributing on both ends of the floor. Her scoring ability, defensive pressure, and steadiness helped guide JV to a dominant win.

      The night concluded with a dramatic contest for the Varsity team, who secured a hard-fought overtime victory of 41-36. Varsity showed exceptional composure and determination throughout the game, maintaining their intensity during critical moments. Peyton Johnson came through in the final moments with a powerful inside drive, converting the basket that tied the game and pushed it into overtime. In the extra period, Lizzie Staton knocked down a clutch three-point shot to put the team in front, and Peyton sealed the win by sinking two free throws.

     Across all levels, the program demonstrated unity, competitiveness, and the ability to rise to challenging moments. The collective results reflect the athletes’ continued development and commitment to excellence.
