In every community, there are individuals whose steady presence leaves a lasting mark, not through grand speeches, but through consistent kindness, quiet leadership, and heartfelt service. For us, that person is Randolph Goodman, Community Relations Coordinator for Gary Job Corps.
For the past 35 years, Goodman has faithfully served the Gary Job Corps, dedicating his time, energy, and heart to its mission and the young people it supports. His decades of commitment reflect not just longevity, but loyalty, passion, and an unwavering belief in the power of opportunity and mentorship.
Every Monday morning, without fail, Goodman has walked through our doors with breakfast in hand and a warm smile to match. What began as a thoughtful gesture became a treasured tradition, one that set the tone for the week and reminded us that community is built through connection. His visits were never just about delivering food; they were about delivering encouragement. He took the time to check in, share a laugh, and make sure everyone felt seen and valued.
Goodman has also been a constant presence far beyond our office walls. He is often seen at community events, luncheons, and local gatherings, proudly representing Gary Job Corps and supporting the many organizations that strengthen our city. Whether greeting guests, networking with partners, or simply offering a handshake and conversation, he has served as a visible and trusted ambassador for the program and its cadets.
Through his regular updates, Goodman kept us informed about the impressive projects, service initiatives, and accomplishments of the Gary Job Corps cadets. His pride in their growth and achievements was unmistakable. He made sure their hard work did not go unnoticed, consistently highlighting the discipline, skill development, and determination these young men and women demonstrate every day.
A proud United States Navy veteran, Goodman’s life has been defined by service. The values he carried in uniform, commitment, integrity, and dedication, have continued to shine throughout his 35-year career in community relations. He has always answered the call to serve, whether for his country or his community.
As Goodman prepares to retire on March 6, we celebrate not just the end of a distinguished career, but the incredible impact he has made along the way. Thirty-five years of faithful service is more than a milestone; it is a legacy. His Monday morning visits, his presence at countless events, and his unwavering support of the cadets have left an imprint that will not fade.
Leadership is not always loud. Sometimes it shows up faithfully, week after week, with breakfast in hand and a heart committed to service.
On behalf of our entire LPR office and community, we extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt congratulations. Thank you, Goodman, for your military service, your 35 years of dedication to Gary Job Corps, and your tireless commitment to building stronger connections throughout our city. May your retirement be filled with the joy and fulfillment you have so generously given to others.
