The Caldwell County Commissioners Court on Monday heard from a pair of residents living in rural areas of the county who expressed concerns about people shooting recreationally near their homes.
Their concern involves the size of the lots where the shooting is taking place. While larger than those seen at a house in the city limits, the lots in question are under 10 acres and the shooters are not taking proper safety precautions, the residents said.

Commissioners are considering whether to adopt an order that would prohibit the discharge of firearms on lots measuring 10 acres or smaller located in subdivisions in the unincorporated area of the county. Following a discussion, commissioners on Monday voted unanimously to table consideration of the order until Feb. 26 when they plan to hold a public hearing during a regular commissioners court meeting.
No such ordinance is currently in place.
