Dorothy Schnautz
Dorothy Ann Schnautz, 65, of Lockhart, passed away on March 28, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was born in Lockhart, Texas, on Nov. 27, 1942 to Rudolph and Ruby (Von Quintas) Schroeder. On Feb. 2, 1962, she was married to her devoted husband, Kenneth Schnautz, to whom she was married for 46 years. She was retired as Office Manager from Lockhart ISD.
After graduat
ing from Lockhart High School, she attended Nixon Clay Business College. After several short secretarial jobs, she spent 37 years at Lockhart High School as head office manager. Throughout her career, she also was able to follow many of her passions.
Her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved to cook and prepare family meals for all occasions. She also loved watching her grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. They all loved their “Omie.”
Another great passion of hers was her art. She belonged to the New Braunfels Art League where she hung many of her paintings. She also loved going to art camps with her friends learning new methods. If she wasn”t doing something with her family, she was definitely painting.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rudolph Schroeder.
Mrs. Schnautz who was devoted to her family, is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Schnautz of Lockhart; three sons: Dawson Schnautz and wife, Kimberly, of Conroe, Douglas Schnautz and wife, Sarah, of Maxwell, and Kevin Schnautz and wife, Jayme, of Buda; one daughter, Krislyn Schnautz, of Maxwell; her mother, Ruby M. Schroeder, of Lockhart; two brothers: Rudy Schroeder and wife, Ann, of Lockhart, and Tim Schroeder and wife, Jenny, of Pflugerville; and eight grandchildren: Kelby, Kelsey, Cass, Drew, Zane, Libby, Brady and Brandon.
Visitation in memory of Dorothy was held on March 31, 2008, at 6 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 2 p.m., at First Lockhart Baptist Church, with Carlson Jakubik officiating. Interment followed at Live Oak Cemetery, Uhland, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers were Kyle Schroeder, Fred O”Neal, Jon Schnautz, Kelby Schnautz, Benny Schuman, Allen Wisian, Jerry Capezzuti and Craig Duwall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lockhart High School Top 10 Scholarship Fund in her honor.
