When Floors Plus first opened its doors in June 1986, founders David Raschke and Larry Bagwell had a clear and simple goal: to bring quality flooring, honest service, and dependable craftsmanship to their hometown of Lockhart. What began as a modest operation on Cemetery Street, just across from where Kreuz BBQ stands today, has grown into one of the community’s most trusted family-owned businesses.

In 1995, Floors Plus relocated to its current home at 115 Bufkin Lane, marking a new era of expansion and longevity. Even as trends and materials changed, the company’s dedication to doing things the right way stayed constant. After David’s retirement, Larry partnered with David’s son, Brent Raschke, continuing the family legacy with the same commitment to personal service that helped build the business nearly four decades ago.

“Installation techniques may look different today,” Raschke says, “but doing the job right hasn’t changed.” From hammer and nails to high-tech tools and adhesives, Floors Plus has adapted to an ever-evolving industry while keeping its hands-on, customer-first philosophy at the heart of every project.

Both founders were lifelong Lockhart residents, deeply tied to the people and values of the community. Opening a business here wasn’t just a choice, it was a natural fit. Over the years, Floors Plus has relied less on flashy advertising and more on word-of-mouth recommendations, a testament to the quality of their work and relationships.

“Most of our success has come from word-of-mouth and hard work,” they explain. “We couldn’t have done it without our loyal customers, homeowners and businesses alike, who trust us to deliver quality every time.”

Floors Plus offers an impressive selection of flooring options, including carpet, vinyl, wood, and tile, along with window blinds, shades, and professional carpet cleaning services. The team also specializes in custom tile work, such as showers, backsplashes, and tub surrounds. In recent years, they’ve expanded into quartz and granite countertops, offering complete home-interior solutions under one roof.

What truly sets Floors Plus apart, they say, is a combination of competitive pricing and personalized service. “We aim to match or beat anyone, even the big-box stores, while providing the kind of one-on-one attention you can only get from a local business,” Raschke emphasize.

Floors Plus remains 100% family-owned, and that family pride is evident in every detail. With flooring experience stretching back to the 1970s, the team has seen styles, suppliers, and materials come and go, but the value of skilled installation and honest work has never faded.

“Our storefront may look small and rustic,” they say with a smile, “but we can get just about any floor imaginable. More importantly, we make sure the job is done right. Our installers have been with us for many years and take real pride in what they do.”

Beyond business, Floors Plus has made community support a priority. The company has sponsored and contributed to numerous local organizations and events, including Lockhart Little League, 4-H, Dickens on the Square, and several Caldwell County volunteer fire departments.

Nearly 40 years after its founding, Floors Plus stands as a cornerstone of local enterprise, proof that a small, family-run business can thrive through integrity, hard work, and a deep connection to the community it serves.

From the first showroom on Cemetery Street to today’s thriving location on Bufkin Lane, Floors Plus continues to embody the Lockhart spirit: local, loyal, and built to last.
